Let’s make great things happen!

Whether you’re a company with awesome products or a fellow blogger, I’d love to join forces and see what sort of fabulous things we can create together. Send me an email with your proposal and we’ll get the ball rolling.

In the meantime, here are some posts featuring past collaborations!

Printspiration: Something To Make

Printspiration: Something to Make | Damask Love BlogFairly often I come across phrases, quotes and poems that resonate with me. Sometimes they are thoughtful, sometimes they are funny …but every time I say to myself, “I should frame that!”

Then I never do.

Until now.

Printspiration is a little something I’ll be posting whenever the spirits hits me. A free printable that inspires me in some way, and I’m hoping it inspires you too! My first Printspiration post features this poem that I found while reading THIS post on The Em Dash. Chances are that if you are reading this blog, this poem is for you in every way

http://www.damasklove.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Something-to-Make.pdfI created this digital printspiration with a canvas background that gives it a more handmade feel. Once you print it out, you can leave it as is…or add some stamped images, like I did.

I stamped the top edge of the poem with bright & tiny florals that sort of float toward the bottom.

Now if you’ve printed yours out and stamped it – you’ll want to display it, right?

Lucky for you, I’ve got you covered! Today, my monthly guest contributor project is up at the TomKat Studios Blog…and it just so happens that the tutorial shows you how to make an incredibly easy “frame” for displaying your “Printspiration” artwork. How convenient is that?! It’s like 7-11 up in here.

So head over to TomKat – say hello, check out the tutorial and start getting crafty! That’s an order.

As always, thanks for stopping by!

{Official AKG’s European Vacay Update}: We are currently in Amsterdam for the day then we’ll be heading back to Paris this evening  for a yummy dinner and a few more days of sightseeing. On our second day here, we walked up the Tour Eiffel, which I’m pretty sure burned off all the calories I’ve been eating (“Nutella et marron” crepes are a food group of their own, and I’ve had far, far too many.) If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll find lots of photos of our European antics! Yesterday we went on a little “paperie” tour around Paris and I came across some amazing gems. I’ll be posting about them all when I get back!

ETA: If you are looking to follow me on Instagram from your mobile device, you can find me as “damasklove” – see you there!

CASE STUDY: Map Inspired Stationery

Map Inspired Stationery Bags Header

It’s rare that you’ll find me creating anything with a vintage feel. That’s just not my go-to aesthetic. When CASE Study invited me to revisit an old project and create something new, I was inspired to reach for some vintage map wrapping paper!

Map-Stationery-InspirationThe inspiration came from this moving announcement project, where I featured the State to State die by Clear  & Simple Stamps.  I mounted the die onto corrugated cardboard cardstock, which you can likely find at your local craft store. I purchased mine at Michael’s in a 12×12 sheet.

For round two of this project I created a little crafting kit (I’m sort of all about crafting kits these days)!

Map Inspired Stationery Bag Kit

{VINTAGE MAP PAPER} While we were in New York this past weekend, I picked up some beautiful sheets of wrapping paper from Paper Source. Among my purchases was THIS vintage map paper.

{MINI BAG DIE} I used the newly released Mini Pocket Die from Lifestyle Crafts to create treat bags from the map paper. As you may already know, Lifestyle Crafts is offering 50% off your entire purchase with the use of the promo code: DAMASK.

{STRIPED BANNER EMBELLISHMENTS} For these, I reached for my Navy Shape n’ Tape Washi Sheets and used the Tape It Kit to create a banner embellishment.

{EMBOSSED COMPASS TAGS} The Clear and Simple Stamps Nautical Flags set includes a beautiful compass image, which I heat embossed and made into a simple, vintage-y tag.

{VINTAGE POSTAGE STAMPS} Here I used the Papertrey Ink Postmark set to create a few itty bitty postage stamp images.

Rustic Winter In a Box: Buffalo Plaid Stationery & More

Buffalo Plaid Stamped Stationery

Last week I asked my Facebook followers to describe the images that come to mind when I mention “Rustic Winter.” Today, I’m excited to share the reason for my curiosity!

Today, I’m a guest blogger on This Heart Of Mine where Amy is rolling out her Winter Wonder series. A host of very talented bloggers are participating in this series including Kelly from Studio DIY, Rachel from Swell and Stylish, Dana from Bloom and Inspire, Delia from Delia Creates and Kirby and Alexa from The Short and Sweet of It.

For my take on winter, I’m going rustic. Similar to my approach in THIS project, I’ve been totally inspired by the warm, coziness of a rustic winter (even though I’ve never seen a rustic winter, since I live in Miami, where we have exactly one season called “humid.”)

For my guest post on This Heart Of Mine, I created a papercrafted “Winter in a Box” filled with all sorts of yummy papery goodies. Over here on the homefront, I’m sharing a few ideas of how you can style those goodies along with a quick tutorial on stamping your own buffalo plaid stationery! So before you scroll any further – head over to This Heart Of Mine and see what I came up with…don’t worry….I’ll wait for you to get back.

Ok…welcome back. Did you love it?

Here’s one more peek at the wintery box…

Rustic Winter in A Box

The buffalo plaid stationery may just be my favorite component of this box. I struggled to come up with a strategy that would work for creating a realistic plaid, and finally I succeeded!

what-You-need

  • Red Cardstock folded in to A2 sized cards
  • Clear & Simple Stamps “Create-a-Plaid” stamp set
  • Clear & Simple Stamps Hybrid Ink in Steel Got It, Perfect Little Black Dress and Blanc Check.
  • Fun foam scraps

What you Do Buffalo Plaid Stationery

{1} Stamp checkered pattern using thick stripe from stamp set

{2} Cut a small square of fun foam and adhere to an acrylic stamping block

{3} With black ink, stamp the small square at each intersection of the checked pattern. Then stamp thin white lines as shown.

So what’s the verdict? Did I capture rustic winter with paper? Tell me what you think!

DIY Glitter Twine Bow with TomKat Studio

Connections, connections who's got connections! Looking to reach out to FedEx or UPS to donate shipping of all the #drawntogetherforCT kits! Let me know if you've got any ideas!

First order of business! If you are here in search of the Drawn Together project for Newtown, CT – keep on scrolling! You’ll find everything you need just below this post or by clicking HERE.

Next order of business, Glitter Twine! With all the sadness of the Newtown, CT tragedy, there is a little bit of solace that comes with returning to routine. Today, I’m happy to return to the routine of sharing my love of making stuff!

When I came across the Glimmer Twine available at the TomKat Studio Shop – I sort of did that internal scream you do when you’re really excited about something but can’t scream out loud because the people around you will freak. Yep. That’s what I did.

Then I found out that I would be sharing this project as a guest on the TomKat Studio Blog. Then I just did the scream for real. At that point, who cares if anyone thinks you’re crazy, right?

I knew I needed this twine in my life – because only amazing things happen when glitter and twine come together. Today’s project is proof of that theory. Don’t believe me? Keep scrolling…

Glimmer Twine Bow Close

With just three supplies:  a mason jar, twine and glue, I was able to create this beautiful twine bow that is a really fun & unique way to dress up your gifts.  The bow served as the focal point for this gift box full of fun gift wrapping goodies.

Glitter Twine Bow Gift Packaging Box

Inside I assembled a grouping of items that are perfect for making a few treat containers for gift giving.

Craftroom-Announcements

  • The outpouring of support for Drawn Together has been unbelievable! If you could see my email inbox!!! If you have sent me an email, but have not received a response. Sit tight. I promise to respond!
  • This afternoon, I will update the Drawn Together post with a PO Box where you can send cards and supplies!
  • Thank you to each and every person who has shared this via Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook. This project has reached every corner of our country and has even traveled up to Canada and hopped the pond to a few international friends! Thank you to those who have donated time, money and supplies to making this meaningful. I was incredibly nervous about Drawn Together – unsure of what people would think. My nerves are gone and have been replaced by gratitude and excitement about providing some tools for healing to the children and family of Newtown, CT. I think we can all agree that if these supplies help one child heal from this event – the project is more than worth our time and effort.
  • If Twitter is your thing, feel free to use #drawntogetherforCT as you spread the word.

Ellen Hutson CLASSroom Guest Post & Giveaway

Glitter & Ink Gradient Stamping for Ellen Hutson CLASSroom

My glitter obsession is OOC*, people. (*Out Of Control!)  Yesterday, my coworkers told me I had pink glitter on my cheek and I’m pretty sure I can trace the origins of that glitter to the project I’m sharing today.

As a matter of fact, the card you see above is being featured in the Ellen Hutson CLASSroom today…pretty cool, right? If you are new to Damask Love and found your way via the Ellen Hutson site…welcome! I am happy you’re here and maybe, just maybe you’ll come back to visit! We have a pretty good time here. In addition to this project, if you keep scrolling  you’ll find a special edition of my Craftroom Crush feature at the end of this post!

To create this card, I used a simple technique that I’m calling “ink gradient stamping.” I came up with that all by myself. Head over to the the CLASSroom to see a photo tutorial for this project and be sure to leave a comment here to be entered to win the supplies I used!
