Fiskar-FusersManual-Logo600DAY2The people at Fiskars have created a monster. Seriously, all I want to do is letterpress my life away! Today I’m excited to talk about what the Fiskars Fuse can DO. This machine makes is incredibly easy to die cut and letterpress with just a few rolls of the crank! Check out the video for a demonstration as well as tips about ink and cleaning your letterpress plates.

I wanted to keep the videos in the range of five minutes, so instead of including live tutorials, I’ve decided to include photos of all the projects. Today, I’ve got a whopping six ideas for how you can use the diecut/letterpressing capabilities of the Fiskars Fuse. Click through to see what I’ve got for you!

Letterpressed paper makes beautiful home decor and table decorations. I love the leaf shape that Fiskars offers and I thought it would be perfect for an autumnal place setting. I’m definitely filing this one away for Thanksgiving!

SUPPLIES:

Fiskars Medium Design Set – Leaf | Lifestyle Crafts Cream Letterpress Paper | Clear and Simple Stamps Fall Frenzy Stamp Set | 80lb cardstock

INSTRUCTIONS:

{1} Fold the 80 lb cardstock in half, then place on the leaf die, without the letterpress plate in place. {2}Allow some of the die to extend beyond the fold of the card {3} Run this through the machine creating a leaf shaped tent-fold.  {4} Die cut and letterpress the autumn leaf shape onto the letterpress paper, then adhere to the tent fold {5} Add a stamped tag and twine

When your Fiskars Fuse arrives, it will include two letterpress plates. This beautiful bird image is one of the plates included and I love the idea of using it to create a simple gift bag. Here, I paired the letterpressed die cut with a strip of patterned paper.

INSTRUCTIONS:

{1} Die cut and letterpress tags {2} Adhere strip of patterned paper to kraft bag {3} Adhere letterpress tag

Bee Mine Letterpressed Valentine's

For this adorable set of valentine’s day cards, I used the Lifestyle Crafts Letterpress paper, which is great for flat notecards. The thick paper gives nice weight to flat stationery. Again, I combined stamping with letterpressing. To finish off the favor, I added a tube of beeswax lip balm!

SUPPLIES:

Fiskars Oval Extension Pack | Lifestyle Crafts Cream Letterpress Paper | Clear and Simple Stamps Tag Lines | Papertrey Ink Honey Bee stamp set

INSTRUCTIONS:

{1} Die cut and letterpress flat cards {2} Stamp heart image with red ink {3} Stamp sentiment {4} Pierce card and tie lip balm onto card with baker’s twine.

If you happen to own impression plates, you can achieve very cool results by first adding texture to the paper before letterpressing it with your Fiskars Fuse.  For each of these tags, I used coasterboard from Papertrey Ink and I love the way they turned out.

SUPPLIES:

Fiskars Medium Circle Design Set | Papertrey Ink Coaster Board | Papertrey Ink Diamond Impression Plate | Papertrey Ink Canvas Impression Plate | Papertrey Ink Woodgrain Impression Plate | Papertrey Ink Garden Variety Stamp Set |  Papertrey Ink Stylish Sentiments Stamp Set | Papertrey Ink Stamp-A-Faire Limited Edition Stamp Set

INSTRUCTIONS:

{1} Die cut and letterpress flat cards {2} Stamp heart image with red ink {3} Stamp sentiment {4} Pierce card and tie lip balm onto card with baker’s twine.

Thanks so much for joining me for Day 2 of Fiskars Fuser’s Manual! See you again tomorrow for Day 3 where I’ll show you how to letterpress without die cutting!

  1. Love these! Do you know if you are limited to use only Fiskars letterpress plates?

      Hi Claudia,

I am not 100% sure about using other letterpress plates in the Fuse. I suspect that you would be able to, since the Adaptor Kit (which is sold separately from the Fuse) contains several plates that can be combined to fit other brands of dies, embossing folders and probably letterpress plates too. The Letterpress Kit from Lifestyle Crafts works in other machines such as the Cuttlebug and Big Shot. I imagine that their letterpress plates would also work in the Fuse.

      • Great thanks. I was thinking that Martha Steward has modern design plates you should consider, based on your style that it.

Hello. Love your website and just watched your review of the Fiskars Fusar. I too love crafting and I am looking to create my own invitations after being disspointed that my wedding budget will not allow for professional letterpress invites. I am having plates made. Will my coustom plates work with this unit? Thank you.

    • amber on said:

I do believe that you custom plates will work with this machine. You might want to purchase the adapter plate kit which will allow you more options with getting the right “sandwich” for letterpressing with your custom plate.

I got the Fuse for Christmas 2012 and have tried it a few times; but after watching you I am looking forward to pulling it back out this weekend and try using pigment ink. My son likes to use it too… lots of experimenting. thanks again and look forward to more videos and ideas.
